The Malawi Prison Service has launched an educational initiative to teach restorative justice and peace-building skills in academic institutions across the country, according to Malawi24. The programme will see prison service officials visiting primary schools, secondary schools, and universities to educate students on reconciliation between offenders and victims.

In higher education developments, the Mzuzu University Student Disciplinary Committee has suspended the Face-to-Face Students Association chairperson, Allan Chiyembekezo, for two academic years. Malawi24 reports that the disciplinary action follows allegations that K3.5 million in transport funds collected from fellow students was misused.

Meanwhile, the Football Association of Malawi has certified 29 students from the University of Malawi after they completed a week-long basic refereeing course at the Zomba campus, Africa Top Sports reports. The training involved 26 male and three female participants and was facilitated by international instructors to extend football development and professionalism into academic institutions.

Additionally, PressCane Limited has partnered with the Malawi University of Science and Technology for an engineering symposium focused on industrial innovation. As reported by Malawi24, the symposium is part of a broader national push to accelerate industrialisation and create new employment opportunities for graduating youth.
