The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) has officially rescheduled its third graduation ceremony. Initially set for June 10, 2026, the event will now take place on June 17, 2026, according to a May 15 announcement on the university's website. MUBAS cited circumstances beyond its control for the date change, advising all graduands, parents, and guardians to adjust their plans accordingly.

In sports and higher education, the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has certified 29 students from the University of Malawi (UNIMA) after they completed a week-long basic referee training course at the Zomba campus, Africa Top Sports reported on May 16. The group included 26 male and three female participants. Dr. Emmanuel Ngwira, Executive Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at UNIMA, commended the initiative for equipping students with skills that contribute to national football development while offering new avenues for professional growth.

Meanwhile, education advocates are pressing for increased security at educational facilities across the country. On May 15, the Civil Society Education Coalition (CSEC) released a public statement declaring that protecting learning environments must become a national priority, according to the organisation's website. The advocacy group warned that schools are increasingly "under siege," echoing alarms raised by education officials regarding widespread vandalism and its threat to learner safety and education quality.
