Update: As Malawi continues to grapple with a severe fuel crisis, the National Oil Company of Malawi is facing renewed scrutiny over its operations, as reported by Nyasa Times. Critics are questioning the agency's control over 60 percent of national fuel imports, suggesting it has become a politically exposed entity. Adding to the debate, the Consumers Association of Malawi has accused politicians of interfering in fuel pricing decisions. Executive Director John Kapito argued this interference has worsened the country's K1.3 trillion fuel debt, according to Malawi24.

In diplomatic developments, President Peter Mutharika met with the new African Union Southern Africa Regional Office representative, Hilda Suka Mafudze, at Kamuzu Palace, reports Nation Online. During the meeting, Mutharika reaffirmed the commitment of Malawi to regional integration and economic cooperation, highlighting the role of the African Union in addressing global supply chain disruptions.
