The Football Association of Malawi has officially launched the Malawi Women's Football Strategic Plan 2025 to 2027 in Blantyre, according to Africa Top Sports. Speaking at Mpira Village on Monday, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya noted that the roadmap is designed to elevate Malawi as a major competitor in women's football across the COSAFA region and the rest of the continent. The new strategy focuses on grassroots football, elite competitions, governance, marketing, and technical development to create long-term opportunities for female athletes.
In men's football, the Malawi national team has discovered its opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. According to Pan Africa Football, the Flames were drawn into Group B alongside Egypt, Angola, and South Sudan during the event held at the Egyptian Football Association headquarters in Cairo on Tuesday. Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa described the draw as fair and stated that unity and collective focus are required as the team prepares for the matches. The upcoming 2027 tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
