Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Alfred Gangata has confronted the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) over the continued poor performance of the national football team, the Flames. According to Nyasa Times and Nation Online, Gangata demanded answers during a closed-door meeting held at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Tuesday. The minister expressed dissatisfaction with the state of Malawian football, questioning why the national team continues to underperform despite years of financial investment and public support.

During the meeting, Gangata also challenged FAM regarding its strained relationship with the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) over the management of Kamuzu Stadium, Nyasa Times reports. The minister directed that all parties, including Sulom and the Women's Football Association, must appear before the ministry for mediation before FAM can proceed with any disciplinary action against the league body. Gangata further raised concerns over allegations that National Women's Football Association chairperson Adellaide Migogo is being sidelined within the sport's governance structures.

In local league developments, the FDH Bank Premiership enters Week 5 with several high-profile matchups, according to the Super League of Malawi. On Saturday, Blue Eagles will host FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Civo Stadium, while Kamuzu Barracks travel to Champion Stadium to face Ekhaya FC. At Zomba Stadium, Red Lions are scheduled to play LUANAR Mitundu FC.

The workshop aims to train club administrators in governance, financial management, strategic planning, and commercial operations to raise professional standards across Malawian football.
