According to Malawi24, Malawian songstress Emmie Deebo has officially confirmed her status as an independent artist after parting ways with her management label, Akometsi. Speculation about the split began recently when the artist and her management unfollowed each other on social media platforms. In other celebrity news, Ray Harawa, the long-time manager of the legendary Black Missionaries band, has shared his unusual final wishes. Malawi24 reports that Harawa explicitly stated he does not want a coffin, a casket, preaching, or religious songs at his future funeral.

Meanwhile, fans of the late hip-hop artist Martin Nkhata, widely known as Martse, are preparing to gather at Springs Park in Mzuzu to celebrate his life and music four years after his passing. According to Nation Online, the Martse Memorial shows raise funds for the artist's foundational projects, including the Desk Initiative. The programme supports education by donating school desks across the country.

In the visual arts sector, Malawian artist Madalitso Paul Ziwaoh has joined an African delegation of painters and sketch artists for a cultural exchange programme in New Delhi, India. Nation Online reports that the exchange is taking place ahead of the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit, which is scheduled for the end of May 2026.

Update: Following earlier coverage of his new music, OkayAfrica reports that Afro-pop artist Onesimus hosted a pan-African listening experience in Lilongwe for his new album, "Son of Grace". The launch event featured appearances and collaborations by artists travelling from South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and Liberia.
