In Blantyre, four police recruits were arrested for fraud after allegedly using fake Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) results to secure their law enforcement training, according to Nyasa Times. The suspects, identified as Ganizani James, Enosi Banda, Robert Yohane, and Lily Chirwa, were apprehended by the Fiscal Police just a day before they were scheduled to graduate at a pass-out parade in Kanjedza.
Blantyre Police spokesperson Mary Chiponda confirmed the arrests to the publication, noting that the recruits had completed most of their training program before investigators verified the forged academic credentials. The four individuals are currently in police custody and are expected to face formal fraud charges in court.
