Update: Malawi's Ministry of Health and Sanitation will officially launch Lenacapavir, a twice-yearly injectable HIV prevention drug, on July 1, according to Nyasa Times and Channel Africa. Principal Secretary Bestone Chisamile confirmed that the drug will be available in public health facilities alongside existing preventative measures such as oral PrEP and condoms. The rollout expands the country's HIV prevention toolkit and aims to improve patient adherence by offering a longer-acting option for individuals at high risk of infection. The official launch ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Area 25 Health Centre in Lilongwe, presided over by Health and Sanitation Minister Madalitso Baloyi.

Update: The Ministry of Health and Sanitation successfully concluded its third and final round of the national polio vaccination campaign, exceeding its target by 5 percent, reports Malawi Cables Online. Conducted between June 16 and June 19, the initiative reached over 7 million children under the age of 10, surpassing the initial goal of 6.7 million. Minister Madalitso Baloyi praised health workers, district councils, and traditional chiefs for their collaborative efforts during the exercise, which was launched in response to a polio case detected in Blantyre earlier this year.
