The Anglican Council in Malawi has formally announced the launch of the Malawi Anglican Social and Development Programme (MASDEP), according to press statements issued on Sunday and reports from Anglican Ink. Although MASDEP has been actively operating programs such as its Savings Group Ministry since early 2025, the recent announcement serves as a public declaration of the agency as the official development arm of the Anglican Church in Malawi.
The agency will coordinate the church's response to community challenges, focusing on areas such as limited access to education, youth unemployment, and poverty. By shifting these coordination duties away from the main church secretariat, the council aims to improve resource mobilization and deliver sustainable community interventions nationwide.
