In an effort to expand economic participation, the COMESA Federation of Women in Business in Malawi partnered with the Graça Machel Trust to host a financial workshop on August 13, according to a federation press release. The event brought together government officials and financial sector stakeholders to review advocacy efforts from the past three years. Participants focused on policy reforms, increasing access to public procurement for women-led businesses, and closing systemic financial gaps.
At the community level, local organizations are working to improve business literacy. Youth Net and Counselling completed a financial management program for the Twafwane Youth Club in Chitipa, the organization announced on August 13. The training instructed participants on business planning, budgeting, start-up cost calculation, and strategies for separating personal and business finances to encourage youth entrepreneurship.
