Update: Following earlier coverage of the Scorchers falling to Cameroon in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, new details have emerged as the team concludes its tournament run. Despite the 3-0 defeat on Sunday, star forward Temwa Chawinga claimed the tournament's Golden Boot award, according to Malawi24. The result officially secures Malawi a spot in the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. The Scorchers are scheduled to arrive at Kamuzu International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, where they will parade their silver medals through Lilongwe before attending a State House reception hosted by President Lazarus Chakwera, the Football Association of Malawi reports.

In domestic football, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets secured a 1-0 away victory over Karonga United in the FDH Bank Premiership on Sunday. Ephraim Kondowe scored the decisive goal in the 38th minute, connecting with a delivery from Yamikani Mologeni to seal the win. According to a club statement, the result brings the Bullets to 26 points after 13 matches, placing them just two points behind current league leaders Silver Strikers.
