The monument was constructed by family members and close friends to preserve his musical and cultural history. His widow, Sunganani Banda, publicly thanked supporters of the project. Coinciding with the unveiling, the Lucius Banda Foundation will launch alongside a free memorial concert at Balaka Stadium, Nation Online reports. The stadium show will feature performances by Lulu with his Mathumela Band and Piksy.
