The funds were presented during a welcome breakfast in Lilongwe on Friday, August 21, attended by government officials and Football Association of Malawi representatives. NBM Head of Marketing Akossa Hiwa stated that the financial reward recognises the team's historic runner-up finish and serves as a pledge of continued corporate support as the Scorchers prepare for their maiden appearance at the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.
Meanwhile, domestic Super League action continued over the weekend as the first round of the season nears its conclusion. On Sunday, August 23, title contenders Silver Strikers were held to a 0-0 draw by Goshen City Dedza Dynamos, according to official club match reports.
