According to Nyasa Times and Nation Online, the High Court of Malawi's Commercial Division has lifted a preservation order that froze over 383 million kwacha belonging to businessperson Nessimu Nyama of Nema Farm Seeds. Judge Violet Chipao discharged the order, ruling that there was no evidence to suggest the funds were linked to criminal activity. The Financial Intelligence Authority had initially frozen the account based on suspicions that the money, which was tied to a seed supply contract with the Malawi Enterprise Development Fund, constituted proceeds of crime.
In Lilongwe, the Central West Region Police hosted its inaugural men's conference to address the mental health challenges within the force. Nyasa Times reports that Pastor Reuben Chilera spoke at the event, warning male officers that infidelity is worsening the stress and exhaustion associated with their jobs. He urged the officers to protect their marriages as fiercely as they protect public safety and to avoid moral compromises.
