Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has signaled a possible entry into active politics, warning he may contest for the presidency if circumstances demand it. In an interview with a local television station, Bushiri stated he would act if politicians interfere with his charitable work or if the country faces a leadership crisis, according to Nyasa Times. He maintained that his current focus remains on his ministry and humanitarian efforts.

Update: Civil rights groups have formally petitioned President Peter Mutharika to review the country's fuel pricing structure. The National Advocacy Platform (NAP) submitted a letter demanding an urgent reduction or temporary suspension of selected fuel levies, Nyasa Times reports. NAP Chairperson Benedicto Kondowe and National Coordinator Baxton Nkhoma argued that the current levies are driving up the cost of living and described the pricing model as a human rights concern.

Update: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has launched a probe into suspicious cash withdrawals totaling K5.5 billion from a Yusuf Investments Limited account linked to the Amaryllis Hotel inquiry. According to Nation Online, an ACB statement dated April 3 indicated the funds were withdrawn between late January and early March from the National Bank of Malawi. Commenting on the investigation, NAP Chairperson Benedicto Kondowe warned against the weakening of state institutions. He specifically cited reports that the Financial Intelligence Authority legal team was being removed or transferred during the active probe, urging the government to protect institutional independence to handle complex financial crimes.
