Harvesting of main season cereals, including maize, is beginning across Southern Africa this April, according to the latest GEOGLAM Crop Monitor for Early Warning report.

While recent rains in mid-March helped crops recover in several agricultural zones, monitors report that localized dry conditions remain a threat to regional food security. The assessment specifically highlights ongoing dry weather concerns in parts of northwestern Angola, Zimbabwe, and Madagascar as farmers navigate the early stages of the harvest season.
