Update: The parliamentary inquiry into the Amaryllis Hotel acquisition faces new bribery allegations. According to Nyasa Times, lawyer Alexious Kamangira formally petitioned the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, accusing Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson Steven Malondera of receiving a MK65 million bribe from Apostle Clifford Kawinga. The funds were allegedly intended to influence the probe and protect key figures involved in the hotel's sale to the Public Service Pension Trust Fund.

Kamangira's petition claims that internal committee disputes arose when Malondera distributed only MK3 million to each member. Malondera has dismissed the allegations as baseless, insisting the inquiry remains impartial.

In judicial news, Malawi Supreme Court Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda is scheduled to visit the United States in mid-April to discuss international legal partnerships. Mshale reports that Mzikamanda will headline a rule of law reception on April 17 at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs in Minnesota. The event, organized by the Law and Democracy Initiative of Books For Africa, will feature discussions on judicial independence alongside Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson.
